Making stuff is fun again.
Anyone else feeling this?
Twenty minutes ago, you felt unstoppable. You’d just built something you couldn’t have made a year ago. You didn’t even type. You Wispr’d it like Al Capone in a smoky jazz club. Hell yes.
Then it hits you. If that took me 20 minutes, how good is it, exactly? I know, I’ll go on LinkedIn and show everyone my… shit. A teenager’s built an algo arbitrage bot on Kalshi. At this rate, they’ll be on 20M VC before I’ve finished my twenty-minute MVP.
I’m behind. Way behind. Is that it for the career I spent 20 years building? Is it over?
We’re feeling it too. So, what do we do with that?
Get in a room. Bring some good people. Make stuff together.
That’s 40 for 40.
What it is
- 40 apps in 40 days: like a hackathon in public
- The catch: we can’t start the day until someone pays for it
- Live: Streamed on Twitch, daily shorts on socials
- Special guests: CEOs, creatives, non-profits bringing a problem or their just skills, but it’s required they bring a good attitude
Day 1 - November 2, 2026
Damn, this sounds tight. Can I invest?
No. We aren’t a startup.
See below.
For humans
The AI startup and investment world is at an all-time fever pitch. Instinct > Muse > Instinct again > Dots — IFYKYK.
You know what used to be cool? A billion dollars.
You know what’s cool now? $10 billion.
40 for 40 is the complete opposite of that.
AI feels like it’s for the small elite. We want to prove it’s for everyone else too, so we’re bringing special guests from every demographic and every walk of life. Especially if they've never vibe coded.
This isn’t just I build, you watch. That’s been done before.
This is I build, you build, we build… together.
This is a community and we’re going to bring the fun back to building again by doing this together.
November 2, 2026 - 40 for 40 begins.

How it works
Beat 1: Unlocking the day
9am and the team (and community) sees a new problem, inside a locked virtual box, just waiting to be solved. But here’s the catch, the box doesn’t unlock until we get the first paying customer, a sponsor, presales.
Did you ask your mom? Did you ask your brother? Did you ask your LinkedIn? Get yourself out there and talk to people!
Lesson: Founders often take so long to build before speaking to users. Founders still spend 6 months building only to realize they can’t even get their first 10 users.
Beat 2: Problem to solve
It’s nearly 10am and we finally have our sponsor, but just like a hackathon, don’t just jump straight into building. What’s the problem we’re solving? Are we all aligned?
Lesson: Communication, team drift, and alignment.
Beat 3: The Day’s Challenges
Some days I’ll be polishing the idea, other days I’m in charge of design. And there are some days I’ll have to take my child to the hospital because of her medical needs, and the team will need to adjust.
Lesson: That’s the point. Life throws you curve balls, but by working together and a good attitude, we’ll ship something fun.
Beat 4: The Checkin
As we head into the afternoon slump, we need to think about shipping. Do we need to cut our favorite feature? Do we actually need to pivot? Tension builds in the room.
Lesson: Like in life, you can’t have everything. What’s the MVP and be okay with that.
Beat 5: Hell yesss or Hell noooo?
4:55pm, did you commit to GitHub?
4:58pm, can you add one last feature? Lawrence, you always do that!
5pm… let’s all see it live.
